The gallery was organized in 1986 in Rockford, Illinois, by ten artists who were looking for a place to showcase their artwork. Charlene joined the gallery in 1987 as the only non-artist and business partner. The original ten partners have moved on to other interests, and the gallery has evolved over the years, moving to Door County in 1997. As one of the premier original art galleries in Door County, Charlene's Gallery Ten continues the tradition by providing exhibit space for over 100 artists from all over the country. In addition, the gallery features two solo artist shows every five weeks during the summer season.
Located at the south edge of the quiet fishing village of Gills Rock, the gallery is easily found on Highway 42. The contemporary building features four separate galleries on three floors accessed by a tower spiral staircase. New to the gallery in Door County is Dewey's antiques hall where you will find an eclectic mix of primitives and functional gadgets of yesteryear. Each piece has it's own story! In the gallery's wooded back yard are whimsical yard and garden sculptures.
