The City of Gallatin was founded in 1801 by the Tennessee General Assembly A seven-member Council governs the City of Gallatin. A full time Mayor is elected for a four-year term. Five members represent specific districts and two are elected at-large, with alternating four-year terms. City Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in City Council chambers on the second floor of City Hall.
