Title
Galilean Lutheran Church in Corpus Christi, Texas
Description
When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth.
Galilean offers a warm, friendly community of believers who strive to worship God, hear God's Word and receive the Sacraments. We give high priority to the study of God's Word, to reaching out, sharing the Good News of Jesus and for opportunities for service to others.
In 1983 the American Lutheran Church (ALC) approved the beginning of the new Lutheran congregation in south Corpus Christi. The Rev. Glenn Kramer was called as developing pastor, and he arrived in Corpus Christi in August 1984. The first worship was held on Sunday, September 23, 1984, at Shannon Junior High, Airline and SPID (now Lowe's). Galilean was officially organized on January 27, 1985 and received by the South District of ALC at the District Convention in May 1985. On January 1, 1988 through a merger of three national churches, Galilean became a congregation of the Southwestern Texas Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
