The Gainesville Daily Register encourages readers to express their views. Letters are limited to 400 words, about one page typed or two pages handwritten. Longer letters will be condensed. The Gainesville Daily Register reserves the right to accept or reject all letters and reserves the right to condense, delete and edit all letters for content in order to conform to good taste, readability, the laws of libel and space considerations. All letters must include the name of the author, complete address, and phone number for verification. Personal attacks on private citizens will not be published. Unsigned letters, thank you notes, advertising, or letters requesting that the writers name be withheld will not be published. The Daily Register accepts no responsibility for maintaining or returning letters submitted for publication.
The Gainesville Daily Register, Cooke County's only daily newspaper, is published each weekday afternoon, and Sunday mornings. 2005 circulation stands at 6,800 Friday and Sunday and 5,800 Monday through Thursday. Daily delivery is extended north to Thackerville, OK, south to Valley View, TX, east to Whitesboro, TX and west to Saint Jo, TX.
Gainesville, the county seat of Cooke County, TX, is surrounded by lakes less than an hours drive away. The lakes include, Texoma, Moss, Murray, Kiowa, Nocona, and Lake Ray Roberts. Many of the lakes offer state parks for camping and water recreation.
