Work is available for short periods (few weeks) or long periods (6 to 12 month). Farm work offers the chance to increase earnings with long hours and cheap living costs. Out in the countryside they offer a great social life and big cities or towns are never far away (London, Edinburgh, Bristol). Fruitful jobs offer couples; groups of mates travelling together, or people travelling on there own the chance to meet like-minded people whilst earning money. Fruit picking (Strawberries, raspberries, apples) often pays piece rate, which means the more fruit you pick the more money you earn, ideal for backpackers earning travelling money.
