FreeMindWare - Free Tools for Personal Growth - by Beverly Hills Psychologist and Founding Member of WeAttract.Com Dr. Robert Gore
Description
Some people prefer to have a therapist who doesn't urge them to learn new things; a therapist who does not measure progress regularly and who doesn't ask clients to keep taking steps to grow between sessions.
Cognitive-Behavioral treatment is more active - I frequently suggest ways to overcome or deal with problems better. Some therapists are relatively quiet, mostly listening. Cognitive-behavioral therapists tend to be more "noisy", and perhaps, at times, a little bossy. On the other hand, cognitive-behavioral approaches are scientifically shown to be the most consistently effective treatments for most problems with anxiety and depression.
Because I like the way it looks, and I remain very interested in psychoanalytic theory even if I do more directive, cognitive and behavioral work in practice.
