Government Experience
Fraudhotline is sponsored by the Law Offices of Paul D. Scott. The office is headed by Mr. Scott, a veteran trial attorney, formerly with the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. Before entering private practice in 1995, Mr. Scott served for six years in the Civil Fraud Section of the Department of Justice, where he handled a wide variety of qui tam complaints and other claims of fraud against the Government. During his tenure at the Department, Mr. Scott obtained numerous multimillion dollar recoveries.
Awards and Distinctions
For his work, Mr. Scott received several awards, including a letter of commendation from Attorney General Janet Reno, a Special Achievement Award, and an award from the Department of Veterans Affairs for the highest loan guarantee civil fraud recovery in the history of the agency. He also served as an instructor and lecturer at seminars for investigative agents and other Government attorneys.
Qualifications
Since leaving the Department of Justice, Mr. Scott has maintained a successful qui tam practice in San Francisco and has acted as an instructor to other attorneys in the field. He is also a published author of articles concerning the False Claims Act and frequent lecturer in the field. Prior to joining the Department of Justice, Mr. Scott attended Yale Law School. He did his undergraduate work at U.C. Berkeley, from which he graduated with highest honors.
