Here at Foxfire Farm, we believe the traditional Missouri Fox Trotter was a versatile athlete to suit the needs of many different riders. Our bloodlines are from the same soft-gaited, gentle, all-purpose breed begun over 150 years ago in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri and Arkansas which has become an "over-night sensation" with pleasure riders all across America. As with other breeds, demands of the show ring have led to many changes in recent years. While illness has kept us out of the show ring in recent years, it has not diminished our dedication to preserving and promoting the historic foundation bloodlines that have made our breed so famous.
As one of the Pacific Coast’s oldest breeders of true, foundation bred Missouri Fox Trotters, we offer a limited selection of young breeding and saddle horse stock and our proven stallions at service. We select, breed and train our horses for their naturally smooth gaits, athletic and attractive conformation, and gentle, agreeable temperaments. We will never use nor advocate the use of gag bits, chains or other severe or inhumane gimmicks or techniques in our training program. We are breeders, not dealers, so that most of the stock we have available will be young, unfinished horses we offer to other breeders looking for the old-time bloodlines. We have an excellent trainer who can start these horses under saddle for you, by special arrangement. And, we would be happy to work with owners whose horses may need a little gentle help in establishing their gaits.
