FRIENDS OF THE SHENANDOAH RIVER
Description
About Our Logo
Since the ban on DDT in the 1970's, ospreys, eagles, and other raptors have made a dramatic comeback in Virginia waters. Breeding pairs can be observed on the Shenandoah River from March until October or November, when the birds depart for their South American wintering grounds. As a tribute to the increasing health of the Shenandoah River Watershed, we have chosen the osprey with a fish in its claws as our logo.
