Emanuel County Commissioners met for the last time in 2009 Monday night. The commissioners heard presentations from George Elder and Mary Ann Smith, members of the Emanuel County Historical Preservation Society. Elder and Smith talked about making plans for Emanuel County’s Bicentennial in 2012. The county was founded in December, 1812. “We have talked about 2012 and are getting pretty excited about it,” Elder told the commission. “We want to be a part of the 2012 celebration.
