- Forkicks are a three- piece Indie- rock band from Newport, South Wales. Established in the latter half of 2003, the band has had in all five extremely talented musicians grace the stage. Originally formed by Rhys Hicks and Chris Beard, Rich Hicks (no relation to Rhys) was quickly snapped up, and within no time the three gelled to become a well-oiled trio, albeit with no drummer or oiginal material. However, in 2004, Dom Curtis was scouted by Rich and soon the new four (Rhys and Chris sharing vocals and guitar, with Rich on Bass and Dom on drums) began to create their own music and play small scale concerts. However, things began to stall in 2005, and Chris left to play for his new band, the Coves, whilst Dom slowly lost contact in attending Uni in Bath. On November 5th, 2005, Dom played his last gig and things went quiet. BUT in the March of 2006, Rich again quite brilliantly spotted Tom Carless, from the year below in 6th form, and the new three- piece Forkicks instantly gelled and started steam- rolling new music. Throughout 2006, Forkicks played many gigs, including a couple at Six Bells, Newport and a Global Battle of the Bands performance at Clwb Ifor, Cardiff. In December 2006, the band recorded their second EP professionally at Redrock Studios, Blackwood, and has already had a great reception.
