Description
The Foothill Cycle Club is a recreational bike club that has been organizing weekend rides and annual cycling events for 30 years. There are no elected officers of the club, only volunteers who lead rides, chair events and write and publish the monthly bulletin. Saturday rides are of varying lengths and difficulty. Sunday rides offer both a moderate and easy pace. Come out and join us on any of these events.
This is a joint event with the LA Wheelmen. Traditionally, this is a two day ride down to San Diego from Arcadia with Saturday night spent in Capistrano. On Sunday, after arriving in San Diego, the group takes a chartered bus back to Arcadia (bikes are taken back in a truck). Two days makes for a leisurely ride. The first day is about 70 miles of mostly flat or rolling terrain. The second day is 60 miles of rolling terrain with the one significant hill at Torrey Pines. However, last year there were not enough riders to charter the bus, so riders took the train back. At this point, it's unclear how the event will be run this year.
You must make your own reservations for Saturday night in Capistrano. The Best Western Capistrano, 27174 Ortega Hwy, San Juan Capistrano (949) 493-5661 is ride headquarters.
