Fibromyalgia (FYE-bro-my-AL-jah), also known as fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), is a condition marked by achy pain and stiffness in the body's soft tissues, such as the muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Estimated to affect between 2% and 4% of the population, FMS is the second most commonly diagnosed rheumatic disorder after osteoarthritis.
