Russell specializes in redfish and spotted sea trout fishing in the backcountry flats, inshore, and nearshore saltwaters of Amelia Island Florida. As full-time guides, Capt. Russell and Janet Tharin have a passion for guiding in the Florida outdoors all year round. We will be fishing aboard Hunters Heart, a 17.6 ft. Key West Stealth flats boat, that is outfitted to meet any and all of your needs. If you have never been saltwater fly fishing on a flats boat, you need to take a fly fishing casting lesson as orientation prior to your charter trip. This will greatly enhance your ability to land saltwater gamefish. A 1 or 2-hour fly fishing casting lesson prior to your day on the water builds confidence as it increases teamwork between angler and guide. It’s a great time to learn how your fly rod works to understand the mechanics and fly casting principals before we start fishing from a flats boat in open water.
