Floreat Surf Life Saving Club - Home Page
Description
Patrols are the basis of surf life saving - the reason for us being here. At Floreat we have set a high standard for our patrols, and this has been recognised over many years with Floreat winning the overall Patrol Efficiency competition on four recent occasions.
Patrolling members are required to undergo proficiency examinations each year in order to remain as an active member during any one season. Patrolling members have made a commitment to the club, their fellow patrol members and the public to attend their rostered patrol. If people miss patrols, it can jeopardise the efficiency of the patrolling system and compromise the club's purpose. If members can not attend their patrol then a proxy should be organised to cover that roster. If a patrol is missed then that member is deemed to be down hours and privileges of membership may be withdrawn (competition rights, use of equipment, use of gym, etc ). If there are any further queries about patrol please contact the Patrol Officer or a senior patrolling member (a patrol captain is recommended).
There are many and varied areas within surf life saving that can be followed and there are many awards that can broaden the knowledge of the Surf Lifesaver. The club's high education and efficiency standards are complemented by a very enthusiastic and well qualified education team. Members are able to get specific awards that will benefit their self worth and equip them with skills that will be invaluable in life. For further information on the many awards and the levels available, please contact the Director of Education or an instructor of a group you have observed.
