Description
PlayFloorball.com is created by the Ontario Floorball/Unihockey Federation (OFUF). The OFUF is an organization established by a dedicated group of Canadian floorball players and organizers who envision floorball as a mainstream sport in Canada 's future.
The history of organized floorball in Canada began as a grassroots initiative. Floorball in Toronto has grown steadily after the launch of Canada 's first floorball tournament, the Canada Cup, in April 2004. The OFUF's mandate is to provide Canadians with the support and resources to build a floorball nation. The OFUF is the umbrella organization of the Canadian Floorball/Unihockey League, the Canada Cup Floorball Championship, and many teams, clubs, and players in Eastern Canada .
The history of the OFUF dates back to the founding of The University of Toronto Floorball Club in 2002, Canada 's first floorball club. “Moving to Toronto, the hockey capital of the world, I expected huge floorball leagues and arenas everywhere,” says founder and OFUF President, Juha Mikkola. “After all, I played floorball with a club in Pasadena, California so if those guys have floorball I thought Canadian floorball must be at the Finnish or Swedish level.”
