Description
When people choose to protect their land, their decision benefits the entire community by saving wildlife habitat, agriculture and timber stands, wetlands, open space, and scenic vistas. These voluntary conservation agreements preclude changes that would negatively affect the property, primarily subdivision and development.
Each spring a father and son wait for the return of the Sandhill cranes who feed on their lowlands. They know now that this habitat will always be there for the cranes and the people who enjoy watching them.
A retired executive works diligently in his 40-acre stand of timber on a stewardship plan that will one day result in the reestablishment of an old-growth forest.
