Flathead Bank was founded by a group of local businessmen in 1971 to provide the residents of the East Shore of Flathead Lake a hometown bank. It was only nine years later that the bank outgrew the original location overlooking Bigfork Bay and moved to the present site on the corner of Highway 35 and Grand Avenue. In 1994, Flathead Bank opened a branch in Lakeside on the West Shore of Flathead Lake.
