What is this Web site's purpose?
This site aims to involve parents, students, teachers and neighbors in the struggle to provide high-quality schools for our city's children. Its goals are 1) to expose what schools look like, on the inside; and 2) to help the public demand change.
FixOurSchools.net is a website run by Marc Borbely, a former D.C. Public Schools teacher now studying law at the University of the District of Columbia, and a leader of the DC School Modernization Campaign. Marc couldn't get DCPS to finish wiring the air conditioners in his classroom room at Eastern SHS (work orders had been placed 6/18/01, 8/22/01 and 2/26/02). He complained at a school board meeting in May 2004. The wiring was completed a few weeks later, and this website was launched in September 2004.
