Fight for Sight
Description
Fight for Sight is a 60+ year old non-profit foundation whose mission is to "support and inspire eye and vision research by funding promising scientists early in their careers". We provide grants annually to undergraduate summer students, post-doctoral students, ophthalmology residents and young researchers at the beginning of their careers to enable them to do preliminary research and publish so that they may apply for larger, Federal and private foundation grants. Many of the leaders in academic ophthalmology and vision research today got their first grants from Fight for Sight and we maintain an extensive and grateful alumni database. We obtain support from private donors, corporations, alumni and foundations. In addition to managing the grant program and our scientific advisory board, we strive to raise public awareness of our mission and the contributions of Fight for Sight funded research has made in the treatment, prevention or cure of diseases/conditions causing blindness or visual impairment.
