In 1958, the four volunteers of the four pioneering State Family Planning Associations (FPAs) of Selangor, Perak, Melaka and Kelantan came together to found the Federation of Family Planning Associations, Malaysia (FFPAM). FFPAM became a truly federal organization with 13 member State FPAs upon the joining of FPAs of Sabah and Sarawak in 1978.
Today FFPAM, with its Secretariat at Subang Jaya, Selangor is the leading non-government organization (NGO) in the area of population, family planning and sexual and reproductive health (SRH). Through our wide network and in partnership with like-minded government agencies and civil society organizations, we provide accessible, affordable and quality reproductive health care and services to women, men and young people.
We had over the years, broaden the scope of family planning and reproductive health services and intensified our out-reach programmes to better serve the disadvantaged communities. As one of the three main national agencies in family planning and reproductive health, we annually serve almost one-quarter of the new and one-sixth of continuing acceptors for family planning.
