About Us
The Institute of Federalism is an institute of the Faculty of Law of the University of Fribourg. It is composed of two operational departments: the National Centre and the International Research and Consulting Centre. Besides its two operational departments, the Institute includes the Chair of Public Law, Library and Administrative Services.
The Chair of Public Law facilitates the contact between the Institute, the University and the Faculty of Law. The Chair is integrated into the operational tasks of the Institute and provides the Institute with additional service and scholarship capacities. In carrying out some projects, the Chair works closely together with the responsible project managers of the respective operational departments.
The Library has an inter-departmental function and is therefore directly under the supervision of the Board of Directors. In the Institute’s priority fields, such as federalism, decentralisation, rule of law, democracy, human and minority rights, nationalism, autonomy, and comparative constitutional and administrative law, the Library is an internationally leading institution.
