Nature has always been central to my life, and most especially, my art. Moving from Toronto to the Kingston region was an enormous boost to my creativity. For a landscape painter it is hard not to be inspired by the incredible beauty of the Land 'o Lakes, a region of forest, water and rock just north of Kingston.
Before my move to Kingston I spent a lot of time on the Bruce Peninsula, building a cabin on the Saugeen river and living close to the pastoral and wooded landscapes of the area. But the northern shield beckoned.
Walking, kayaking or even just driving through this region is in itself an artistic experience. For me, the natural world is the ultimate artistic experience. It's not always possible to capture the beauty I see, but just trying is immensely satisfying.
