Farr Trailer Yachts made their first appearance on the yachting scene in 1977. The original model was the 6.0 metre (20 ft) Farr 6000. The combination of the legendary Bruce Farr's design talent and the vision of Kim McDell of Sea Nymph Boats resulted in a boat that was distinctively different from the mainstream trailer sailers of the time.
