- The Irish Farmers Association has vowed to intensify its campaign to prevent what it has described as the "destruction" of Irish agriculture at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) talks in Geneva., Speaking at a meeting of EU Agriculture Ministers today, the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Mary Coughlan described the world trade talks as “representing a serious threat to EU and Irish agriculture”., The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Mary Coughlan T.D., today announced an increase of 2% in Ireland's milk quota from the 1st of April, following agreement reached at the Council of Agriculture Ministers meeting in Brussels. Minister Coughlan said that this move by Council was very welcome and reflected the optimistic assessment of the future demand for milk.
