Description
What began as a small literary event in 1999 organized by George Mason University and the City of Fairfax now has expanded to a community-based, region-wide festival, bringing together people of all ages—more than 6,000 in 2004—for both fun and education. The festival continues to grow and succeed thanks to generous partnerships and community interest.
With this support, Fall for the Book offers Northern Virginia and the D.C. metroplitan area various entertainment and educational opportunities. Each year, the festival:
Advances children's education by hosting specially tailored writing workshops for students at the elementary, middle and high school levels and by publishing an annual anthology of student writing in partnership with the Northern Virginia Writing Project
