Exodus 3:14 presents what is universally acknowledged to be amongst the greatest exegetical challenges in the Bible. There has been no consensus on the meaning of this verse for at least 2,300 years, because the meaning of just four words therein have defied all efforts at being convincingly explained. What makes these four words so interesting is that one of them is apparently the Self-given name of God, and that this one accounts for three of the four under consideration.
