Description
Exeter BSAC is Exeter's most established diving club. It was formed in 1952 and joined the British Sub Aqua Club after its formation in 1953. We are happy to welcome divers from any training agency and club to our own club house. We also train new divers to the BSAC's high standards.
Exeter is well positioned for diving Lyme Bay as well as Bigbury Bay and Plymouth Sound. Wrecks in Lyme Bay can be anywhere from 14m deep to over 50m. The 'Bay Gitano', a mile or so from Lyme Regis can have so many fish on it that it can be hard to see the wreck. The 'Maine' near Salcome and the 'James Egan Layne', whilst well known, are great wrecks on the South coast that we visit. The recently sunken Leander Class Frigate, the 'HMS Scylla' is also proving very popular. The map below shows the general location of some of the wrecks we have dived on.
There are also weekend trips into Cornwall as well as holidays abroad. The last club holiday was to Gozo, Malta. We do most of our diving from the club rigid inflatable boat (RIB). We also use Hardboats, with some shore diving for training purposes.
