Description
EVA DEAN DANCE has performed extensively in theaters, as well as alternative spaces, ranging from a turn-of-the-century barn in Massachusetts to a convention center in the United Arab Emirates. Because of the pioneering spirit in which Ms. Dean approaches creating dances, her work is diverse in scope. The Company’s repertory is genuine, atmospheric, architectural, and humorous. Ms. Dean is adept at weaving different elements into vital and imaginative works. Boots, balls and tables become musical instruments and give choreographic inspiration. Stone walls, rock gardens and waterfalls are used as integral elements in site-specific choreography.
BOUNCE is a captivating theatrical experience featuring dances with balls. A kaleidoscope assortment of colors, textures and sizes, these spheres are more to BOUNCE than mere props. Six breathtaking performers use the balls as dancing partners that extend movement possibilities and performance intention. The dances transform space and time, taking audiences on a journey into magical vignettes. Images of serene orbiting planets, a Busby Berkeley inspired water ballet, a genie balanced on a pearl in a desert, a mysterious Egyptian moon garden, and an ancient Irish dance with a crystal ball inspire the atmospheric journey that is BOUNCE.
BOUNCE, JR., is a 45-minute version of BOUNCE created specifically for those with a shorter attention span. The dances performed on the junior program cut straight to the chase by including the most energetic, awe inspiring movement. Dances featured are a wickedly fun playground romp, dolphins diving and surfing over giant balls, a rubber ball orchestra, and a cascading 500 ball waterfall.
