Description
Eva Bacal, Democratic candidate for Congress in Congressional District 8, has lived in Arizona since 1960 and is a life-long Democrat.
Eva was elected to the Tucson Unified School District Governing Board three times and twice was the leading vote-getter in Pima County. She was elected chair of the national Council of Urban Boards of Education, for two years and led national conventions and workshops on education issues such as desegregation, school funding, and educational excellence.
Eva is a graduate of Barnard College and is a cum laude graduate of the University of Arizona College of Law, where she was an editor of the Journal of International and Comparative Law, and chair of the student body governing board. She currently serves on the governing board of the Law College Association. She is a member of the Arizona Women Lawyers Association, and has been active in professional, political, and community organizations. She has been an Arizona Assistant Attorney General since 1991. Eva was a small business executive prior to her legal career.
