Once I was a traveler in your shoes – trying to plan a trip DownUnder, but confused about information in guidebooks, on the internet, or at my neighborhood travel agency. Then as I traveled extensively in Australia and New Zealand, I met many Americans who envied my trip. They saw the tourist icons, but I camped in the outback, fished and sailed the isolated northwest coast of Australia, and kayaked turquoise bays in New Zealand. I saw koalas in the wild, while they went to zoos.
