Epoch Designs was founded in 1989 to provide a source for authentic Victorian stencils, previously unavailable in a pre-cut format. At that point the term stencil typically conjured up images of Country, Early American and "cutesy" designs despite the virtually unknown wealth of sophisticated designs from the Victorian era.
Our early collection included borders from original Victorian era stencil catalogs representing different period styles including high Victorian, Deco, and Art Nouveau. While attending a professional conference in 1997, we met the keynote speaker, Becky Rogers Witsell. Becky is nationally renown for her stencil restoration work. We are fortunate to have three room sets from Becky’s restorations. Our most recent additions, Damask, Filigree, and Diamond Edge, are designs intended for use in combination with our border collection to create the rich ornamentation characteristic of the Victorian era. These new additions enable you to emulate the look of period wallpapers at a fraction of the price.
Stencils offer the user flexibility in terms of placement, color, and combination allowing you to have a unique and custom application.. We hope that you will find inspiration on our web site.
