The Tri-Cities Enterprise Center (TEC) offers a program unlike any other in the Columbia Basin. Designed to stimulate economic growth and job creation in the area, TEC offers business and technical support to entrepreneurs, as well as state-of-the-art physical resources to ensure the success of local business start-ups.
Research indicates that incubated companies have an 87% chance of succeeding in the marketplace. TEC provides its tenants, virtual tenants and other program participants with the cutting-edge resources and technology needed to accomplish a similar success rate, helping local entrepreneurs reach their full potential and create jobs and wealth for the Columbia Basin.
TEC was established in 1987 as an economic development program for The City of Richland in response to the area's concern for diversifying the local economy in preparation for the post-Hanford era. Unlike other economic development strategies that are aimed at attracting and retaining existing firms in the region, TEC is geared primarily toward creating new companies, that will in turn create jobs.
