- "Fine Jewelry at Right Prices," that was the motto of M.J. Engelbert & Co. when Martin J. Engelbert opened Engelbert's in Rome, NY in 1907. Now, 98 years later, that is still the philosophy of David Engelbert and his staff. David joined his father, Clarence, and his brother, Bruce, in the family business in 1960. Shortly thereafter, the store became incorporated and changed their name to Engelbert's Jewelers, Inc. In 1974 the business expanded by opening up a branch store in Utica, NY.
