- I was born in Bella Bella – an isolated Native American community nestled amongst the Great Bear Rainforest off Canada’s Northwest Pacific coastline. My earliest friends were the families of the Heiltsuk Tribe who have lived in these shores for hundreds of years. At the age of eight, my sister and I were formally adopted into their family in a traditional Potlatch ceremony.
