Elitist was founded in 2002 as an imprint division of the legendary Earache records. It's solely A&R'ed by Lee Barrett, the ex owner of Candlelight Records, the guy responsible for discovering talent such as Emperor, Opeth, Enslaved and many more.

The purpose of Elitist is to sign the most cutting edge bands in the field of metal, regardless of style. Elitist's remit is to scour the world looking for bands willing and able to push the boundaries of the metal genre, bands who constantly strive to stay one step ahead of the herd, or bands so rich in quality that's it's impossible to pass them by.
