- I created a website for Elijah in April of 2004 as on outlet to share my experiences and learn from others. I began to add information about our favorite books to the website. I called it Elijah’s Reading Corner. Each week I picked a book that meant something to Eli and I and explained why. Our fifth choice was Snuggle Puppy, a little love song by Sandra Boynton. I found a website about her and sent an e-mail telling them about little Eli. I explained that we had picked Snuggle Puppy as our book for the week. I was shocked when the very next day I received an E-mail from Sandra’s assistant Kathleen. She explained that they do not normally reply to e-mails. Eli’s story had touched them. She mailed Elijah two signed books and a stuffed snuggle puppy. I was so deeply touched by the gifts. Kathleen also said that they would like to donate to the Leigh’s foundation. I sadly explained that I didn’t know of one. She offered to send book donations directly to me to send to children affected by Leigh’s. I graciously accepted and Eli’s Angels was born in July 2004. The official paperwork was started in September 2004.
