- The Electric League of Indiana was created in 1921 as the Electric Club of Indianapolis. In 1928, the Club changed its name to the Electric League of Indianapolis and was incorporated in 1940. In 1973, the League's scope was expanded to include the entire state and its name was changed to its present title, the ELECTRIC LEAGUE OF INDIANA, INC. In 1982, the Fort Wayne Area Chapter was chartered. In 1988, this chapter was renamed the Northeastern Indiana Chapter to reflect the area it serves. In 1989, the North Central Indiana Chapter was chartered serving the South Bend-Mishawaka-Elkhart communities. The newest chapter was chartered in 1998. The Southern Indiana Chapter serves Evansville and the surrounding area.
