Description
Alex was raised in Central Florida and has seen the region change dramatically. He has seen the effects, both positive and negative, that it can have on the economy and opportunity for those that call Orlando home. Alex’s parents were tourism entrepreneurs, and worked very hard to help build the Orlando we know today. Alex witnessed from a young age that the livelihood of a community is vitally important and while it can be diversified, the main industry must be nurtured.
Alex attended Orange county public schools, and after graduation attended University of Central Florida for two years. He then transferred and graduated from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. Most of Alex’s career has been spent working to elect good Democrats who share the tenants and beliefs of the party platform. During college Alex joined the Lawton Chiles for Governor Campaign as a youth organizer, and later worked on the Clinton/Gore campaign as a field organizer. He also became active in the Orange County Democratic Party that year.
After college Alex continued working on campaigns and initiatives in central Florida such as Mobility 2020, a bi-partisan initiative supported by Orlando’s Democratic Mayor Buddy Dyer to help ease congestion and gridlock on the roads of central Florida. Alex also gave time and passion to candidates he believed in like Janet Reno, Mary Johnson, who was the first Latina elected to the City Commission of Orlando and also the County Commission, and Buddy Dyer for Mayor, among others. Alex has worked on almost every aspect of a campaign but most enjoys speaking with people at their door and speaking face to face.
