Ellington Mutual Insurance Company was chartered to do business on July 16, 1878, as a Town Mutual Insurance Company. The company was formed by a group of farsighted local farmers who were unable to obtain insurance coverage elsewhere. As you can see by the accompanying photos, things have changed a little since those founding days.
