Description
Excerpted from the website:
- The Christian mainstream of the twentieth century has never known quite what to make of its Pentecostal sisters and brothers. In a century in which Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox Christians were trying harder than ever to be “relevant,” Pentecostals took the biblical injunction to be a “peculiar people” just a little too seriously. Yet seldom when we think of the “peculiarity” of Pentecostalism do we think in terms of radical social commitments. What makes Pentecostals peculiar in most of our eyes is their insistence that the age of miracles has not passed, or the seemingly inordinate attention they give to the gift of tongues.
