Description
The concept of the cold-air intake is nothing new for the aftermarket tuner. Consider the internal combustion engine as a simple air pump; air is drawn in through the intake, burned with fuel and then pumped out through the exhaust. By simply reducing the restriction of air drawn into of the pump will increase the pumps overall efficiency, producing more power.
The ECS XAS System's do just that and more. By completely replacing the restrictive OE air box and intake snorkel with a mandrel bent 70mm (approx 3") diameter aluminum pipe finished in either a bright hand polish, black, white, red, Sparkle Blue, yellow or silver paint. Routed down into an open area within the front bumper where cool outside air is drawn in through a serviceable cone filter. External air drawn from outside is on average 30-60°F cooler than air within the engine bay.
Increased air density and reduced temperatures are accurately measured by the car's computer through the use of a highly sensitive air mass sensors. The computer can then add more fuel to achieve the proper air/fuel mixture, resulting in a bigger, more powerful burn creating additional power.

BEWARE! SCAMMERS
I bought some brake parts from them for Volkswagen GTI. The warranty on their site stated "t is the intention of ECS Tuning to sell only quality products. We offer a 1 year warranty against defects in workmanship or materials. You must provide us with a copy of your invoice as proof of purchase. ECS Tuning will only replace or repair warranty items, no refunds will be given. ECS Tuning or the product manufacturer will inspect or test all products prior to a warranty claim adjustment. Simply returning the product to ECS Tuning does not guarantee payment. We do not pay for consequential, incidental and contingent damages or costs incurred of any kind, including the cost incurred directly or indirectly in relation to goods sold by ECS Tuning." Within a few months the cheap quality "OEM-style" rotors they sent me were warped. I don't race or autocross, mostly highway driving.
When I email ECS they say they can't warranty brake parts. They also changed the warranty statement to include "Due to the possible rapid failure of some products that are improperly installed or used, ECS Tuning cannot offer full warranty coverage on electrical components (i.e. air mass sensors, oxygen sensors, light bulbs..) or wearable mechanical items (i.e. brake rotors, brake pads, clutch discs, clutch pressure plates, flywheels..)" and deny they ever changed their warranty statement!
What they did to me is outright fraud. I will never buy anything from them again.
