- This site is based on the work of Matthew George Easton (1823-1894), a Scottish Presbyterian preacher and writer. His book, Easton's Bible Dictionary, published in 1897, three years after his death. Easton's Bible Dictionary contains an extensive set of entries used in the Bible, from a 19th century Christian viewpoint. Keep in mind, some of the entries in it are out-of-date, and many words only contain short dictionary entries. Even so, this classic work remains a useful resource for those pursuing Bible Study.
