"After having travelled all over the globe I still couldn't find anything that beats the Eastern Cape, but not enough people knew about the magic that our Eastern Cape offered. I thought one of the ways to show the world what we've got is to have a website expressly for the Eastern Cape. There are many South African tourist sites out there, but when I wanted to use them I found that they didn't really cater for the Eastern Cape as such. Their adverts, for instance, would consistently drag users back to other parts of South Africa.
I have an intimate knowledge of the Eastern Cape, because I spent most of my life in the Eastern Cape . In 1980 my parents moved down from the then Transvaal to Boesmansriviermond ( Bushman's River Mouth in English) to have a better quality of life. I was 7 years old at the time and joined the primary school at the Kenton-on-Sea Primary School in Kenton-on-Sea . This is probably the school with the best view on the face of the planet - of course this is not exactly conducive to academic achievements!
In 1987 I started high school at Hoër Volkskool in Graaff-Reinet. Here I learned to appreciate the stunning beauty of the Karoo. My last 2 years of high school, I spent at Hoërskool P J Olivier in Grahamstown.
