- The East Bay AIDS Center (EBAC) is Alta Bates Summit Medical Center's outpatient program specializing in the care and treatment of people living with HIV and AIDS. Founded in 1987, EBAC offers a comprehensive program of primary HIV care and access to clinical trials as well as consultation and support throughout the continuum of HIV disease. EBAC is the leader in providing primary HIV care among East Bay community hospitals. EBAC cares for about 1000 people each year. Over 900 people are currently active patients, 30 percent of whom are women.
