Description

The Eucharistic Missionaries of St. Dominic came into being in 1927 in the small town of Amite, Louisiana, when two lay women, Catharine Bostick and Margaret Grouchy (pronounced "grew-shay") joined together to share life, prayer and mission. Our founding inspiration and continued strength come from the Risen Christ present in the Eucharist. For this reason, "meal" and the sharing of food and drink have special meaning for us. Our sisters try to touch those areas of society that are in need of the Bread of Hope, Justice and Love.

Through the years, our community has developed ministries that express the same founding vision... "Our ZEAL is to carry the invitation and the Lord's message of truth and love to all, especially the neglected poor, the afflicted, the oppressed, and those in any way distant from the Gospel.

All age groups and many cultures are served. We are a community of women religious, recognized canonically as a diocesan congregation within the Catholic Church. There are also lay and clerical associates, men and women who share our spirit, praying and serving within their unique lifestyles.
