Description
Much of my childhood was spent aboard the family sailboat tethered to a mooring in Santa Catalina Island's Isthmus Bay. We spent our days searching for treasures among the shoreline rocks, hiking the dusty trails, eating ice cream at the snack bar as it melted down our cones, and playing endless card games until the last bit of daylight was gone. It was such a rare treat when my Dad would venture down to Avalon in search of a mooring. My brothers, my little sister and I would happily forsake the peaceful solitude of Two Harbors for the excitement that always awaited us in Avalon.
A few years later my husband, Dave, and I spent our honeymoon in Avalon and returned several times over the years always saying how wonderful it would be to live here. In 1996 we become permanent full-time residents with our two sons.
As a web consultant the move was fairly easy because I didn't have to find a job. Over the years my clients have slowly shifted from mainland businesses to island businesses. When the requests for web development started coming in I realized that there was a need for a site like eCatalina.com. I envisioned beautiful island photography, informative articles, a place where every business and activity on the island could be found. I wanted a site that would convey the uniqueness of the Island, its history and the attachment that those of us that have spent time here never forget.
