The Dunselman Family
The Dunselman family origins can be traced to the hamlet Dönsel near Diepholtz (Germany) around the year 1580. There were three farmsteads where three brothers "zu Dönsel" alias "Dönselmann" lived. One of these farmsteads is still occupied by a Dönselmann. In the beginnng of the 17th century a member of that family, returning to the catholic faith, sought refuge at Weyhe under the catholic Twisteringen. The farmstead where this Dunselman settled is still owned by the family. (This information was given by German members of the family in 1974. If you can update this, please drop us a note!).
The Dunselman family tree starts with Joannes Dunselman, born ca. 1680 in Abbenhausen. The Dutch non-catholic family Dunselman originates from the parochy Jacobi Drebber, which also includes Dönsel.
