Rising Damp Cured, Scientific and Analytical Dampness Control by Drystat

Description

have been curing rising damp, sometimes known as salt damp, for more than 30 years during which time, a wealth of experience and knowledge in this field has been accumulated.

Various very useful papers on the subject of treating rising damp have also been issued by the Building Research Division of the CSIRO. All these papers stress the point that the most effective and permanent cure is to install a new damp proof course. This is exactly what we do, whenever possible, using our patented Self-Supporting Membrane Damp-Proof Course. The new membrane should be a polyethylene one; not a metallic one, as a metal membrane will corrode if placed in masonry containing appreciable amounts of aggressive salts.

problem. Salt affected plaster is removed and replaced by a dense rich render of sand and cement, often containing a water repellent agent. This slows down the transfer of moisture to the surface. As reported by the Building Research Division, such a treatment will usually mask the rising damp for some period, but moisture will eventually rise above the level of the new render. This will then require a much more expensive treatment and remedial work.
