We draw life from that which we encounter, from that which we do. Some encounters are accidents, chances, surprises. Some are choices. To draw is one choice from which we can draw life. Life drawing is a particular version of that choice. Drawing began early in human civilisation: tens of thousands of years ago. Animals first, then the human figure. Red ochre in a cave. Earth pigment on a stone wall, placed by an artist. Artists have drawn the human body ever since.
